Congrats to the 60+ participants of our Whole 30 challenge which just concluded! Huge thanks to Elizabeth, Robin, Jen C., and Melissa for organizing and running such an awesome program. Thanks also to Nonna’s Italian Cafe and Pasta Express (also all of the other local restaurants who came up with Whole 30 friendly menu items) for hosting two great dinner get-togethers for the Whole 30 crew. Below are a few testimonials from CFS members who experienced success with the Whole 30 challenge:
-I’ve conquered a 48 year old battle with food and won, I now know that I am stronger than any craving I could ever have, I know that sugar affects me negatively in more ways than I can begin to count, I am amazed at the crap they put in our foods, I’ve lost 16# and several inches, I don’t feel like a gorged slug anymore, I eat to live now, not live to eat, I do not snore like I used to, I LIKE real food, I’ve taken at least 5 minutes off my previous 5k time, I can run farther than I ever have before, my WOD times are steadily improving, I do not have the afternoon slumps anymore, and more importantly than all.. this journey has brought my husband and I closer because it brought out issues that we needed to talk about and deal with.
-I’ve lowered my cholesterol in all aspects except HDL, I can’t tell you how many inches that have been lost, but I can’t keep my pants up, and I’ve lost about 8-10 pounds. I don’t crave those potato chips and dips like I use too!!
-Doing two rounds of the Whole 30, I have dropped over 60 pounds, dropped over 6% body fat, taught myself I can beat any and all food cravings, learned that real food is so much better tasting then all the junk I ate before, and I have dropped from a 42 inch waist to a 35 inch waist.
-I have achieved freedom from sugar
-I’ve lost 31 pounds. 4 inches from my waist. I feel amazing everyday. I really don’t miss all the junk. I’ve found vegetables I never liked before, like sweet potatoes and sweet peppers. Fruit tastes amazing now. Instead of having to compete with iced cream.
-Lost a little over five lbs I would guess. Feel better, sleep better…however what I find most interesting, and would say has been the biggest gain, is that my mood has been elevated and balanced. No hormonal mood swings or crankiness…just a sense of well being and contentment.
-Thirteen pounds gone and my chronically aching knee from an old patella fracture no longer hurts! Amazing!
- I’m down 17.2lbs and I lost 3.75 inches on my hips and can ALMOST fit into my pre-pregnancy pants!!!!! Oh and my husband dropped almost THIRTY POUNDS! We have both gotten such a huge wake up call about how we eat and what is going in our bodies we both feel better than we have in a long time and have energy throughout the day. Okay, my biggest and best discovery I saved for last! DIABETES IS NOT GOING TO GET ME!!! My mom has diabetes… Her mom/brothers/aunts/etc have diabetes. It’s in my DNA but I am choosing NOT to flip the switch for that GENE and that is the best feeling ever. I always said “It’s not if I am diagnosed its a matter of when” and for the first time in my life, I truly believe it doesn’t have to be that way. Thank you W30 for showing us a new life and a better life for us and our new family!
