I appreciate the 6 and 8am classes working well together today on the ring dips with 24-26 people per class. thruster form was very good for 90% of both groups.
Here’s a personal plug for the programing here. Some of you more seasoned cf’ers might sometimes wonder how much or if you should work different than the daily wod’s. Well, I have primarily worked the daily wods for many months. Back in March of 2010, my 1 rep max OHS was 185lbs. Although I do some extra wods some days, they are in addition to the daily wod. My primary workouts are the daily wods. Today, 4 months later, I put up a 2 rep and then a 3 rep OHS at 205lbs and felt plenty strong enough for 5 reps if I could lock the weight in a little better.
The moral to this story is that I have not tried to focus on increasing my OHS max. I just come in and try to work hard with what’s put in front of me. Some days are definitely better than others, but the programming here will make you a better all around more fit athlete.
Focus on proper technique to prevent injury and promote power while giving a high level of intensity. CF-Springfield will deliver the constantly varied…
Thanks for the growth to those of you creating the programing for wods, rowing, advanced etc…

Wore a 25lb vest and used 135 lb. Time was 11:17rx. Did OHS with Chance before this and stopped at 205lb too, due to something tweeking in my shoulder. Anyways, Chance is right. A decent test for any newbies is just a standard bench press. Your typical globo gym workout has us guys lovin the bench. You come to Crossfit, and we don’t touch bench for months or a year at a time. Just pushups, presses, etc. The point is, just this standard lift we used to spend so much time is almost if as strong due to Crossfit prgramming, just as strong as it was when we spent 2 hours at a time workin the pecs.
Try the goods…

19:38 at 85lbs, but some of my ring rows were just not high enough to be called rx. Adding those to my list of “need to work ons”.
Really strong work at noon today! This one was definitely more brutal than it looks on paper. Kudos to everyone who powered through it, rx or not!

27:01 w/85lb. I’m with Mary…ring rows are definitely at the top of my “hope to master someday” list.

19:21 Rx’d. Loved the run in the pouring rain beforehand! Had to go Ollis style and do the wod barefoot because my shoes were soaked. Fun!

Chance, we usually have them same night as girls night, we just always assumed you were in bed by 9, you know being all… wise
Actually, I am up for a guys night same night, if anyone is interested. Wings, beer, movie, etc. Let me know.

Hey Chance, amen and well put. Thank you for that post. The WOD’s are VERY well though out and designed by Cochise himself to ensure optimal development in athletic ability for all 10 domains of fitness. They are not random, they are not watered down and everything is for a reason. That is the beauty of CrossFit, you are not left to do what you like or want (that’s when we ‘forget’ to include the things we hate and suck at), you follow the program.
Jeremy (Cochise) is EXCELLENT at this and I have yet to come a across a site that does a better job in programming.

I’m pretty sure my time was over 26 minutes, I don’t really care about that. 75 pound thrusters, really not Rx ring rows. Proof that Cap’n Bushwacker knows what he’s talking about and that this stuff really works? Two months ago my three rep max on thrusters, at the competition, was 70lbs. Tonight, I did 55 reps at 75 lbs. I made a commitment to myself that I was done just using the bar after the competition. I’ve worked on building my strength through the daily WODs and BC, but I haven’t focused solely on thrusters (I’ve never done more than 65 in a WOD) or maxing out. I love nights like these — you walk in, get your ass kicked, and leave knowing that you’ve accomplished something that 2 months ago you would have never dreamed of — where else?

20:20 – 75lbs I kinda loved the run in the rain! Soaked shoes, wet T-shirt and all.

Thank you Jeremy for awesome wods that transformed an old body to a new one! I appreciate you!

28:46 RXd. Like an idiot, I decided to not drink anything but a pot of coffee today. Well that worked fine until round 5 when my heart rate was 180s. I slowed down but my heart rate stayed right up there. It took about two minutes in the middle of the WOD to get calmed down, 120s before I grabbed the bar again. Since then, I have drank 2 liters of water and feel amazing. Good WOD, great group, fun run!

Let’s hear it for the Lee’s & their new addition!!

You are a funny guy Canyon. Honestly not far from the truth…Hey, I am as good once as I ever was, however it takes me 2-3 days to recover so there could be a little experience/wisdom in my not going out too much. Not to mention various other reasons. It would be a good time if the opportunity presents sometime.

I just want to throw a quick little “amen” out there for what Chance/Jessie had to say. I have been at it for a little over a year now but spent the greater part of that year “shopping” the WOD’s for what I liked (running!) and I wondered why I was not getting any better. You can’t pick and choose in Crossfit. Once I stuck with it and showed up for ALL the WOD’s (most importantly the strength days which I ALWAYS skipped) and cleaned up my diet I saw huge gains! I am 10lbs away from getting my body weight over head now and I know I am going to get it in the next few months. After attending my Level One cert I have learned so much about the “method behind the madness” and I have an even bigger appreciation for CF. This stuff works wonders but you have to commit to it all…… don’t shop the WOD’s! I just had to put my two cents in!
